Synopsis:
An all levels workshop for those interested in exploring meditation, the different styles and techniques, benefits of the practise, and an active sampling of each.
Description:
This workshop will cover Meditation of Concentration, through breath focus, japa mantra, and traktika or candle gazing, as well as Mindfulness Meditation; being fully present in the moment with non-attached observation and thoughts.
Participants will be lead through a verbally guided meditation and body scan, both Vipassana and Nidra style, and offered personalized suggestions for postural alignment and use of props for their practise.
Weather permitting this includes a meditative walkabout around the property, and participants will be gifted a hand strung sacred Tulsi Mala from India to use for the practise.
Target audience: Open to anyone, beginners and meditators are all welcome.
Number of participants: Minimum 10, maximum 15

Friday, November 22nd :
- 4:30pm - 5pm - Arrival and settle in
- 6pm - 8:30pm - Welcome and Overview, Mindful Movement (all levels/ abilities), Verbally guided Yoga Nidra session
Saturday, November 23rd :
- 9am - 12n - Personalized Postural Alignment, Meditation of Concentration
- 2pm - 5pm - Mindfulness Meditation
* To include Dynamic Movement (with a walking meditation around the property- weather permitting, or an indoor Mindful Meditative Movement session) - 7pm - 9pm - Vipassana Meditation practise
Sunday, November 24th :
- 9am - 11:30am - Mindful/ Gentle Morning Movement
- Recap, and active sampling overview, closing circle
Biography:
Robin Thompson is a yoga instructor based in Halifax, NS, that has been teaching yoga, and leading local and international retreats since 2012. With close to 1000 hours of certified yoga teacher training, workshops, programs, and study, in all aspects of yoga. She is also part owner of On The Mat Yoga Studio in Halifax, and lives a life of authenticity, kindness, with a splash of adventure.
